Proof of Evolution!
As I was walking down the beach, I spied a watch lying in the sand. I picked it up, it was a half-formed watch! Finally, a missing link between the sand and the waves of the ocean (the true source of all watches) and the watch on my wrist!
Yes, there are many uneducated, religeous nuts that belive in "watch makers" supposedly some tiny gnomes in Switzerland used to make watches until the Japanese started "making" their own, and of course all watches now are "made" in China. Bah, these religious fanatics claim that the fact that the watch exists is proof that the watch was made! Any educated and reasonably intellegent person knows for a fact that all watches come from the ocean. They wash ashore and are harvested, then have country of "origin" placed on them (no doubt to placate the unwashed religious masses). This is all proven fact. How can anyone doubt the evolution of watches, when even the most complex watch is thousands of times less complex than the simplest single-celled animal.
If living evolution is true, how much more likely is the evolution of the watch? Watches was up on beaches every day, proving beyond a shadow of a reasonable doubt the truth of evolution!
Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

Actually, Brian, watches did evolve. The watch you wear on your wrist is the result of centuries of evolving designs, starting probably with the pendulum clocks that were invented by Huygens in the late 1600s, and later Hooke's experiments with spring regulated watches.
The danger of an analogy is that any analogy eventually fails. In this case, the watch analogy to human evolution is pretty good, except that individual watches don't assemble themselves, they require an outside mechanism to do the assembling. Humans don't require an external assembler, because we have DNA to do it for us. In effect, we assemble ourselves, without need of divine intervention.
Oh, anonymous, no. This is a very common misunderstanding. What you are describing is termed "micro-evolution". Micro-evolution is differences within a kind. No one disputes that (for example) dogs can give rise to other dogs that are different in size or some such. However, a dog has never become a cat or a horse. That is, no species has ever been observed to give rise to another species. Any stories you hear about some species becoming another species should begin with the words "Once upon a time".
You are right in that the watch anology does fail. Watches are better now than ever before. However, we are not better than our anscestors. We are actually genetically worse. DNA is winding down (and the science proves it).
