Keeping the Sabbath
8Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: 10But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: 11For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.And what about all those people who work in the service industry. I remember one of the gretest hypocrocies from my youth seemed to be going out for lunch after Church on Sunday. Here we were being taught, don't work on Sunday (I know, the Sabbath is Saturday; that's a whole 'nother post for another day.) and yet we "require" these cooks and waitstaff to work. God says through his servant Paul, that in whatever we do, we should do it for the glory of the Lord.(See 1 Corinthians 10:31) and
(Exodus 20:8-11 KJV)
22 Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God: 23And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; 24Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. If our employer requires us to work on the Sabbath, then we should work on the Sabbath. However, we should especially make clear in our own hearts that the day is truly the Lord's Day.
(Colossians 3:22-24 KJV)
13If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words: 14Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
(Isaiah 58:13-14 KJV)

16.Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. 17.These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.

20.Since you died with Christ to the basic principles of this world, why, as though you still belonged to it, do you submit to its rules: 21."Do not handle! Do not taste! Do not touch!"? 22.These are all destined to perish with use, because they are based on human commands and teachings. 23.Such regulations indeed have an appearance of wisdom, with their self-imposed worship, their false humility and their harsh treatment of the body, but they lack any value in restraining sensual indulgence.
