Crown Financial Ministries - True Financial Freedom

I had signed up for participation in a "small group" at church during the winter. Well I've ended up in a Crown Financial Ministries class. I'll see if I can suscessfully complete the course, though I believe I'm going to miss to many class days. Actually, though, as they seem to teach, it is truly all in God's hands.

One of the first things they teach is that the majority of us are idolators! No, they don't use the word, however if you serve money, or put your finances ahead of God, then you are an idolator.

"You cannot be a slave of two masters; you will hate one and love the other; you will be loyal to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money."
(Matthew 6:24)

Thou shalt have no other gods before me. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

You must put to death, then, the earthly desires at work in you, such as sexual immorality, indecency, lust, evil passions, and greed (for greed is a form of idolatry).

All who worship worthless idols turn from the God who offers them mercy.
