Psalm 100
Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.
Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.
Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.
(Psalms 100)
This is a childhood favorite, from before I was a Christian. Let me point out verse one, "Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands" is how it is rendered in the KJV. "Shout with joy to the LORD, all the earth" is a more modern way of saying it. To me it always meant "Everyone, sing loudly to God from the heart, don't worry how it sounds to other people" :-)
Worship is God's gift to us. When we lift up our voices in worship and praise to God it stirs us emotionally. (It does me anyway.) God is all in all, He doesn't need our prayers, praise, or worship. His existance commands it! However, as with so many other things, we best prosper when doing the things God has designed us to do! Psalm 29:2
