Verse of the Day:

Friday, May 06, 2005

How could a Good God send anyone to Hell?

How could a good judge send anyone to prison?

Ah, you say, but the good judge should never send an innocent person to prison.

Who is innocent? Who has kept all of the Ten Commandments of God?

Have you ever stolen … anything, perhaps a paper clip from the office? Or even an ink pen? That makes you a thief.

Have you ever told a lie? Even a “small white” lie? If so, that makes you a … good person? No a liar!

Have you ever been angry with another person? If so, that makes you guilty of murder. (Mat 5:22)

Have you ever looked on another person with lust in your thoughts? If so, you are guilty of adultery! (Mat 5:28)

That is just four of the Ten Commandments, if you believe you are not guilty of those check out the rest. (Exodus 20:1-18)
As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
(Romans 3:10)
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
(Romans 3:23)
We are obviously guilty. How can a good judge not send us to prison? The news is actually worse. The penalty for breaking the Ten Commandments is death. So the question becomes how can a Good God *not* send us to eternal punishment in Hell?
For the wages of sin is death;
(Romans 6:23a)
The Good God can only accept us if the penalty for our sins is paid. But the price is too high for us to pay on our own, we need a redeemer!
But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
(Romans 6:23b)
Through accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we take on his righteousness. He paid the price for our sins, all we need to do is recognize that fact

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
(Romans 10:9-10)
