Proverb of the Day

Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil. She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.
~Proverbs 31:10-12

RetroBox.com: Quality Used Computers

RetroBox.com: Quality Used Computers

If you are looking for a low cost computer, this place seems to have the best prices I've ever seen. It's an interesting business, they help Fortune 500 companies get rid of their old PCs, network equipment, servers, and peripherals when they upgrade (asset retirement). They resell the used equipment at low cost. Seems to be a win-win situation.

The Passion of the Christ

I went and saw this movie for the first time this evening.  I was a little disappointed at the amount of artistic license used.  There are a fair amount of non-Biblical and even un-Biblical scenes in this movie, but it does at least get the main story right. The main thing being the main thing, I recommend this movie, followed by some reading.  Or better yet, do the reading first... and last.  The movie is fairly well done, but as it is in almost every case, it fails to live up to the book.

Motel 6 the Anti-"Hotel California"

The Motel 6 #1361 on Sonoma Boulevard here in Vallejo decided to check me out of my room, the day before I was scheduled to leave. (Not to mention I had not gone to the counter and checked out!) Then, when notified of their error, they allowed me to rent a different room (the room that I had been in was scheduled for "shampooing") at an increased rate! If this is standard company policy then I for one have no intention of doing further business with this chain, and recommend to anyone else that they take their business elsewhere as well. At least the young woman behind the counter was pleasant and understanding, if not helpful.  Unfortunately the manager was unavailable.

Up in Flames

The car Dale Earnhardt, Jr. was driving, the #8 Corvette, which ruptured its fuel cell during practice laps before the American LeMan's Series, Gran Prix of Sonoma yesterday.  Dale suffered some burns on his legs, and the car appeared to be a total loss.  Pray for his quick and complete recovery. The picture is of the Infineon Raceway track feed, the event was being recorded for Speed Channel and CBS.

The True Menace of the Ford Expedition

On different subject, let me state for the record, the handles that Ford has installed in the front passenger-side door frame of their Expedition, while somewhat handy for climbing in and out, are absolutely perfect for removing sunburnt scalp from balding heads. Not just once, but twice have I scraped flesh from my scalp on the offending head-scraper... er handhold.

I'll spare you the gruesome photos on this post, though they are available upon request. :-)

Red Man

Beautiful Infineon Raceway (once known as Sears Point) is a great place to expose ones poor unexpecting bald spot to the sun's harsh rays. Today the weather was excellent, temperature in the low 70',a slight breeze (with occasional gale-force gusts). Very comfortable for sunburning. :-)

Man's best friend, indeed. :-/

My silly dog didn't like being left alone at home, while I went out for dinner. He literally tore the wood from between the panes of glass in the kitchen window and knocked out one of the panes. He spent some time running around the neighborhood, getting soaked with rain, before finally returning home. He is currently visiting my parents a few hours earlier than planned. (They are going to watch him while I'm away.)
